Beyond the time.

“I'm Connor Bowen. I'm a 400m athlete from Wellington, New Zealand. I like knowing what I am trying to achieve and then working backwards to figure out what I need to do to get there. Before I race, I focus on the things I can control — sleep, hydration, nutrition, warm-up, preparation, race execution. My mindset is simple: this is my race.”

I'm a disciplined and methodical athlete who takes a reflective approach to competition. After races, I evaluate my execution, compare my own observations with my coach's feedback, and identify what needs to change. I treat setbacks as motivation rather than failure. Within my training environment, I'm also known for being supportive of younger and developing athletes.

Discipline
Preparation matters to me as much as race day.
Reflection
I evaluate my execution against coach feedback after every race.
Respect
I acknowledge competitors and officials, win or lose.
Leadership
I support younger athletes within the training environment.
